Thread Recruitment is partnering with a boutique law firm in Bundall, QLD, seeking a sharp, capable 2-year PAE lawyer (or exceptional 1-1.5 year PAE) who’s ready to actually practice law and not just spend another year pushing paper for people who don’t know your name.

The Role

You’ll work directly with the firm’s Founder, a senior practitioner committed to mentoring properly and backing people with potential to grow into confident practitioners.

You'll begin with supported work, then progressively take the lead on drafting, client conversations, handling simple files, and be introduced to basic court appearances. You can expect guidance when you need it and trust when you’ve earned it.

What You’ll Be Doing

Foundation Work (with guidance):

• Draft affidavits and court documents with precise attention to detail

• Prepare evidence, bundles, and chronologies

• Assist in mediations, conferences, and hearings

• Support client meetings and manage communications

• Conduct research, prepare memos, and handle the moving parts of files

As You Prove Your Capability:

• Run simpler family law matters independently

• Lead client interactions

• Appear in court (as appropriate)

• Draft, negotiate, and drive matters forward

• Gain exposure to litigation and general practice

What We’re Looking For

A lawyer with strong ambition, who learns fast, and stays clear under pressure.

• Sharp, grounded, and switched on

• Hungry to step up, take responsibility, and grow

• Able to think proactively and exercise sound judgment

• Driven to become a genuinely strong practitioner

• Empathy and discretion to handle sensitive family law matters

You’ll need:

• 2-Years PAE in family law; or consideration for an exceptional 1-1.5-Year PAE

• Solid drafting skills (especially affidavits)

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Interested in litigation (bonus if you know UCPR)

• Tech-savvy enough to adapt quickly (Actionstep/LEAP is helpful)

Salary & Progression
